The setting was great and a beautiful building and surrounds. Having a glass of wine on the deck close to sunset was stunning.
In general the staff were great. We stayed for two nights but separated by a couple of days while we walked the 3 day circuit. We could not fault the first stay. Restaurant meal was lovely. The second stay was marred by a couple of small instances. The first was the arrival of about 20 people who took over the main deck, complete with their esky of champagne and cd player. It appeared to be a memorial service of some kind, people crying and the 'Circle of Life' playing. Other guests on the deck looked uncomfortable. Apparently the hotel were unaware that this was going on and not sanctioned by them. The second instance was with the bistro. They have several menus during the day with cut off times. We asked if they would serve us an antipasto plate 6 minutes after the cut off time and were told very emphatically-NO. I asked if there was something similar on the dinner menu that we could purchase, again no. The bar was unable to serve us anything (only drinks) and so we went into town for dinner.Prices for the dinner menu in the bistro were similar to the restaurant. A more casual, cheaper menu would work better in the bistro. A main of fish was still about $29 and then you would need to add sides to that as well.
